Introduction from the Managing Director

It is with great pride that in 2013 we have reached our 75th Anniversary. My late grandfather Frank
Monkhouse established the company in 1938 in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire and since then we have consistently
grown, now retailing from branches across the North of England.
My father and our Chairman, Chris Monkhouse, developed the business from its original base to branches
covering Lancashire, Yorkshire, Merseyside, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and of course Cheshire. We are now one of the
leading school uniform providers in the UK, having built a reputation for high quality and all year round service. He was
also a founding member of Intersport GB, part of the world's largest sports buying group, Intersport International.
Since then Intersport has grown to 250+ stores in the U.K. We run several Intersport shops, which have
always complemented the Schoolwear side of our business, enabling us to act as a 'one stop solution' for both
school uniform and sporting goods needs.
The underlying ethos of the business is to be flexible to our customer’s needs, to ensure that we develop the
way we retail and make it is as convenient as possible for our customers to access our products. As such we can offer our
customers a wide variety of ways to purchase, whether that is in one of our high street shops, in one of our on-campus schoolwear
